When Megan Gwynn was born with a head full of pink hair and eyes blacker than the sea; her parents were assured that it was just a physical birth defect and besides that their daughter was perfectly healthy. Toshiko and Barry were wary, but from the first time Megan looked at them and cooed they were smitten. Though her parents were able to look past her odd appearance, the other residents of the small town of Abergylid, Wales could not. Growing up Megan was often whispered about and set aside from the other children in her town. This didn't discourage Megan's natural energy and friendly attitude any and eventually she was able to make a few friends.
At the age of ten two notable things happened to Megan: her father died in a mining accident and shortly there after she grew multicolored wings. It was needless to say that, for the Gwynn family, that was not a good year. Unable to handle things by herself any longer, Toshiko sent Megan to live with her grandparents and took off on a vacation. Megan actually benefited from the time with her grandparents - they were utterly accepting of her appearance, wings and all, and spoiled her plenty. By the time Toshiko re-entered the picture, Megan was the same cheerful girl that she'd always been, only a little more worse for the wear.
The next few years of Megan's life were lived as normally as she they could with her unusual apperance. It wasn't until a boy named Peter appeared in her living room and told her about mutants that things got interesting...
